Time to sign up for swim team

Swim team is always a fantastic and fun opportunity for swimmers ages 5-18 of any ability to improve their swimming skills in all strokes, learn sportsmanship, enjoy community spirit and build team camaraderie.

Team practices are slated to begin at the end of May, with a six-meet competitive season that runs through July. The team competes in Division I of the Virginia Peninsula Swimming Union with teams from Williamsburg, Yorktown and Newport News.

Ford’s Colony offers flu shots

For the convenience of Ford’s Colony residents, flu shots will be available on Monday, Nov. 15 at the Swim and Tennis Club from 1-4 p.m.

A pharmacist will administer shots in the Magnolia Room of the club. Those interested in receiving a shot are asked to RSVP before Nov. 12 to communityservices@fchoa.net or Jenny Holland at jholland@fchoa.net . Please note whether you are over age 65 so the correct supply of shots will be on hand.

Notable FC happenings

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner featuring turkey and house-cured pork loin ham, a chef-prepared dinner for four and a personalized fitting for a new set of golf clubs are a few of the attractive items up for online auction through Ford’s Colony Country Club.

The Ford’s Colony Charity Classic, which will be open until Nov. 11, will benefit these nonprofit organizations: FISH Williamsburg, which supports local residents who need food, clothing and financial help, Clublife Charities, and the ClubCorp Employee Partners Care Foundation.

Also, a pharmacist provided by Ford’s Colony HOA will give flu shots, including the “high dose” senior flu shot, Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the swim and tennis club located at 165 St. Andrews Drive.

No appointment is necessary, although those coming for a shot are reminded to bring their insurance card.

Come for Coffee with the Board

Make a note of the next “Coffee with the Board” event to be held Monday, March 16 at the community services building.

Coffee with the Board meetings are planned every other month in 2020. The March meeting will focus on, but not be limited to, the concerns of Ford’s Colony families with minor children. The meeting will be hosted by Carmen Hegge-Kleiser, vice-president of the Ford’s Colony Homeowners’ Association board of directors.

These meetings are held in a smaller room better for conversation, so space is limited. Please contact Carmen to make a reservation. Carmen.fchoabod@cox.net.
