Playground improvements

Just in time for spring, Ford’s Colony’s Homeowners’ Association has announced that the resurfacing of the neighborhood’s Westbury Park playground is complete and that the playground is open for use.

Next up is a similar surface renovation of the playground at the Ford’s Colony swim and tennis club. That playground will be closed until the resurfacing project has been finished.

Holiday Brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus

A wonderful holiday event in Ford’s Colony.

Colony Kids, along with the Ford’s Colony Country Club, is hosting a Holiday Brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, December 15 from 9am-2pm in the Members’ Grille and Dining Room.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.  Call 258-4107 today for your reservations for this special event.

Children will enjoy a “create your own” waffle station, kid-friendly buffet, goodie bags and balloon animals from Mrs. Claus.  Prices are @22.00 for members, $24.99 for non-members, and $9.99 for children ages 7-12.  Children 6 and under are free of charge.

Ford’s Colony Model Railroad Club at the JCC Library this weekend.

The Ford’s Colony Model Railroad Club will be participating in the annual Train Show this weekend (December 7-8) at the James City County Library in Norge.  This year’s show will include G, Lionel O, two-rail O, HO, HOn3 and N Scale operating railroads.  If you are looking for a chance to escape the rain this weekend, this looks like a great outing.

Ford’s Colony’s Got Talent!

Take note, Simon Cowell!!  No absconding with Ford’s Colony’s best!  “Ford’s Colony Has Talent” will be presented for one night only on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Swim & Tennis Club, 7:30 pm.
Auditions for this stupendous talent show featuring all types of entertainment, will be held on Saturday, November 23 from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the Swim & Tennis Club.   We’re calling all talented adults and children twelve and over to showcase your talent.  If you can’t come the morning of the 23rd, call Ann King (229-0260) to arrange another time.

Are you a ventriloquist. . . play “Swanee River’ on a washboard. . . do card tricks with the audience?     Entertainers of all description, are encouraged to audition, and have fun.

An accompanist will be on hand to play for singers, dancers, and anyone else who might need her expertise.  Please bring your own sheet music.  If you do not have the sheet music, please contact the director, Ann King, 229-0260, and we will try to find it.

Two rehearsals will be held Sat. January 4th and Sat. January 11, 2014 at the S&T Club.

And, don’t forget the November 12th Theatre Club show:  “William the Conjuror”,  exciting magic show performed by William Penn Russell, performer of mystery, sleight of hand, card tricks and other unexplainable illusions.  Curtain at 7:30, admission $8 members, $10 non members and $3 children 12 and under.  Open to all, refreshments.

The Colony Kids Team has done it again!  They have plenty of volunteers and now just need all the Ford’s Colony families to attend with their trick-or-treaters!  This event promises to be a great gathering of families and friends.

Not able to join us?  The Colony Kids Team is collecting candy donations as well in the S&T Club lobby until Thursday!  Candy of all sorts as well as “healthy” options are welcomed (individually packaged granola bars, sugar free gum, popcorn, pretzels, etc).

Families:  Bring your friendliest goblins, witches, ghosts and creatures of the night for lots of trick or treating fun.  SEE YOU THERE!

Don’t Forget: “A Christmas Carol” performance

This Tuesday, don’t forget to bring your chairs and blankets for a wonderful winter evening under the stars with Ford’s Colony’s own Theater Club production of “A Christmas Carol.” This new version of the classic tale will feature Master Thespian Ed Whitacre. Created by Mark Lerman, this version incorporates many suggestions from the audience from previous years’ performances.

Hosted by the 25th Anniversary Committee, this is sure to be a memorable start to the Christmas season!

Celebrating this wonderful season of Christmas, the Theatre Club of Ford’s Colony and the 25th Anniversary Committee is hosting a production of “A Christmas Carol.” This new version of the classic play reflects suggestions from fans of previous performances, created by Mark Lerman and starring Master Thespian, Ed Whitacre.

Choo Choo Ch’Boogie: Model Railroad Showcase

The Modern Railroad Club of Ford’s Colony is offering an afternoon of incredible train layouts.  Showings will be in eight different homes, with everything from work-in-progress to completed scenes. Model scales from N to G (small to large) will be displayed. Photos are welcome! This is an amazing opportunity for the whole family, so get on board!

2nd Annual Trunk or Treat at Swim & Tennis Club – October 31st!

Put on your spookiest or most silly costume, and head to the Swim and Tennis Club on Halloween evening between 5-6pm for the 2nd Annual “Trunk or Treat.”

This event is open to children through the age of 12, as well as parents and grandparents!

Interested in helping or donating candy?  You can drop candy off at the Swim and Tennis Club.

First Home Swim Meet – Monday, June 27th

The Ford’s Colony Killer Whales Swim Team will hold its 1st home meet on Monday, June 27th from 4:00pm-10:00pm at the Westbury Park pool.

In partnership with the Virginia Peninsula Swim Union toward the goal of providing meals to families in the Williamsburg area, we will be collecting non-perishable goods and other items to benefit FISH from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Westbury Park pool.

4th of July Celebration – RSVP!

The deadline to turn in your R.S.V.P. for the 4th of July Celebration has been extended to Friday, June 24th.  Please submit along with $1/per person (cash only, please) for pizza to the John Pott Guardhouse.
