Swim Team Fundraiser

Shop to support the swim team! The 2nd Annual Fundraiser for the Ford’s Colony Killer Whales swim team will be held this coming Sunday. New and familiar vendors will be there, presenting their wares while you enjoy wine and appetizers.  The swim team is largely supported by this fundraiser, so why not finish all your Christmas shopping in one afternoon and keep our Killer Whales swimming!

Theater Club Hootenanny!

Come one, come all to a real live, bona fide Hootenanny! Hosted by the Theater Club and Dance Club of Ford’s Colony, this event promises to be a cracking good time! Featured entertainment will include Greg Davey of Three Jolly Coachmen accompanying a group of dancers from the Ford’s Colony Dance Club.  Just sit back and enjoy the dancin’ and fine music or join in! Choo Choo Ch’Boogie: Model Railroad Showcase

The Modern Railroad Club of Ford’s Colony is offering an afternoon of incredible train layouts.  Showings will be in eight different homes, with everything from work-in-progress to completed scenes. Model scales from N to G (small to large) will be displayed. Photos are welcome! This is an amazing opportunity for the whole family, so get on board!

2nd Annual Trunk or Treat at Swim & Tennis Club – October 31st!

Put on your spookiest or most silly costume, and head to the Swim and Tennis Club on Halloween evening between 5-6pm for the 2nd Annual “Trunk or Treat.”

This event is open to children through the age of 12, as well as parents and grandparents!

Voter Registration Deadline: August 1st!

All Ford’s Colony residents who are properly registered, will be eligible to vote in this Primary election – since Virginia is an open primary state. 

You must register, or complete any necessary changes by August 1st in order to vote in the primary.  To confirm your registration status, go to:  www.jccegov.com/voter, and clicking the “Where do I vote” link.  The James City Registrar asks anyone without internet access or who cannot verify their information online, to call 757-258-6868. 

 

First Home Swim Meet – Monday, June 27th

The Ford’s Colony Killer Whales Swim Team will hold its 1st home meet on Monday, June 27th from 4:00pm-10:00pm at the Westbury Park pool.

In partnership with the Virginia Peninsula Swim Union toward the goal of providing meals to families in the Williamsburg area, we will be collecting non-perishable goods and other items to benefit FISH from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Westbury Park pool.

4th of July Celebration – RSVP!

The Aging In Place Interest Group Presentation Tonight!

The Aging in Place Interest Group, with the Center for Excellence in Aging and Geriatric Health, is co-sponsoring a Colonial Heritage Community Foundation Series on May 12, 2011 at the Colonial Heritage Club, 6500 Arthur Hills Drive, Williamsburg from 2 to 4 P.M. This series, entitled “Brain Function and Dysfunction Across the Lifespan: Living an Optimal Life – Regardless” presents new information about the brain, featuring Scott Sautter, Ph.D., FACPN, who is a leading neuropsychologist from this area. Hidden Treasures Garden Tour is this Saturday!

Ford’s Colony Garden Club is hosting its Hidden Treasures Garden Tour this Saturday, May 14. Proceeds from the tour (after expenses) fund scholarships to Nature Camp for local youth.

The advanced-ticket price to visit all eight gardens is $8—that’s a mere $1 a garden. You will be treating yourself to a fun-filled spring day! It is a great way to pick up some gardening pointers and get ideas.

For advanced-price tickets, write a check to Ford’s Colony Garden Club for $8 per ticket. Note on the check that it is for Garden Tour Tickets and drop it off at John Pott guardhouse. On Saturday, pick up your pre-paid ticket, a tour map and descriptions of each featured garden between 9am-2pm at Swim & Tennis Club.

Advanced-sale tickets may also be purchased at Wednesday’s Garden Club meeting between 9 and 11am.

Day of tour ticket purchases at Swim & Tennis Club are $10 per ticket.

Please note: Saturday’s ticket purchase and pick-up times have been extended to 9am-2 pm.

The Garden Club also has raffle tickets ($3 each or 2/$5) for five themed garden baskets filled to overflowing with a delightful array of garden-related accessories and surprises.

Got Tickets?

Get your tickets for the Ford’s Colony Eight Home Garden Tour!  Advance purchase tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, April 13th at the Garden Club Meeting.  Can’t make it to the meeting?  Simply leave a check at the John Pott Gate made out to “Garden Club Tour” and pick them up the morning of the tour at the Swim & Tennis Club!  Tickets purchased in advance will go for $8 each.  

Tickets will still be available for purchase on the day of the tour (May 14th) at the Swim and Tennis Club between the hours of 9am-noon, but you will pay a slightly higher price of $10.
