Club names membership director

Members of the Ford’s Colony Country Club have welcomed a new membership director, Tony Null. He comes to Ford’s Colony after working in Raleigh, N.C. for nearly a decade as director of communications and marketing for the North Ridge Country Club.

Null has a long Virginia history, however. He was raised in Newport News, earned a degree in mass communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and is the former membership director at Kingsmill Resort.

Miller named new GM of Ford’s Colony CC

Peter Miller has been named the new general manager of Ford’s Colony Country Club. Miller was most recently the manager of the City Club in Washington, D.C., like Ford’s Colony also a ClubCorp property. 

Miller has a lengthy background in the hospitality business that includes stints as a chef at The Four Seasons Atlanta, assistant general manager at the restaurant management company Brinker International, and time as general manager at clubs in Florida and Delaware.

A certified executive chef with a culinary degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Miller has cooked for two presidents, three first ladies and such celebrities as Paul McCartney and Madonna.

Miller and his wife Kristen have two daughters. He will start his new position Sept. 3.

Ford’s Colony welcomes new golf director Woods Woolwine

Ford’s Colony has made its great golf staff even better with the addition of its new head PGA professional, Elwood “Woods” Woolwine. Woods replaces Mike Krick, who has taken a management position at Ford’s Colony. 

Woods is a familiar face and an extremely respected presence in not only the local golf community but in recreational sports as well. He and his wife Shannon have lived in Williamsburg for 25 years, and Woods has coached youth basketball and baseball in the area for more than a decade.

Woods comes to Ford’s Colony from Cypress Creek Golfers Club in Smithfield, where he was director of golf for 18 years.

Ford’s Colony will hold a “Meet the Pro” golf event on Tuesday, Feb. 5, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Woods and members of his staff will hit shots at various holes for all the groups playing in the event. Holiday Brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus

A wonderful holiday event in Ford’s Colony.

Colony Kids, along with the Ford’s Colony Country Club, is hosting a Holiday Brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, December 15 from 9am-2pm in the Members’ Grille and Dining Room.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.  Call 258-4107 today for your reservations for this special event.

Children will enjoy a “create your own” waffle station, kid-friendly buffet, goodie bags and balloon animals from Mrs. Claus.  Prices are @22.00 for members, $24.99 for non-members, and $9.99 for children ages 7-12.  Children 6 and under are free of charge.

Life and Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, April 12th!

Get Ready for the FCHOA Annual Golf Tournament!

Fore!  If your golf clubs have been in hibernation this winter, then now is the time to get them out, dust them off, and get ready for this years neighborhood golf tournament! 

  • When? Sunday, April 17th with a 9am shotgun start!
  • Where? The Blackheath Golf Course, Ford’s Colony
  • Cost? $55 for home owners, $35 for FCCC members

Price includes green fee, cart, range, cookout, and prizes to follow play.

The Ford’s Colony ‘Colony Kids’  is back in action! Ford’s Colony is home to many kiddos and they need fun things to do just like their parents. The Homeowner’s Association just announced that there are four planned activities this year for  kids under 12 years of age.

  • Spring Celebration & Easter Egg Hunt
  • July 4th Pool Party/Pizza Party
  • Trunk or Treat Halloween Event
  • Holiday Celebration & Brunch with Santa.

They are looking for additional volunteers who would like to help out with the program and may also have ideas to for future events.
