Deelyn is special guest on William and Mary coach’s show

Deelyn shared local real-estate insight with Jay Colley (left) and William and Mary basketball coach Tony Shaver on Monday night, Jan. 21.

Deelyn appeared as a special radio guest Monday, Jan. 21 on the “Chesapeake Bank Tony Shaver Show” featuring William and Mary’s basketball coach Tony Shaver.

The show was aired live from Paul’s Deli on 92.3 FM, 107.9 Bach FM and was streamed online at TribeAthletics.com. Deelyn represented the show’s “community partner” for the evening, Liz Moore and Associates.

Interviewed by Jay Colley, the voice of William and Mary athletics, Deelyn cited the influence of Liz Moore herself as the No. 1 market advantage enjoyed by LMA clients looking to sell or buy a home.

“Liz has demonstrated in more than one real-estate market that she’s a marketing genius and a real-estate guru,” Deelyn said.

Deelyn added that expectations are bright for the Williamsburg real-estate market in 2019.

“We’re expecting another good year for real estate; not crazy up and not crazy down, just steady,” Deelyn said. “Our biggest challenge this year will be a lack of inventory in the lower price points, so it’s a great time to consider selling if you’ve been on the fence.”

Deelyn’s interview on “The Chesapeake Bank Tony Shaver Show” can be heard here, starting at time marker 27:30.

NY Times calls Williamsburg a “must-visit” place for 2019

We know Williamsburg is a great place to live. But confirmation that it remains a great place to visit has come from the New York Times, which lists Williamsburg at No. 12 on this list of 52 places people should visit in 2019. That’s 52 spots in the entire world!

The list begins with Puerto Rico at No. 1, citing the island’s impressive rebound from Hurricane Maria. In the continental U.S., Williamsburg is the second city the Times lists behind Santa Barbara, Calif. The ‘burg is bookended between No. 11 Zadar, Croatia and No. 13 Las Vegas. How about that?

The Times had U.S. history buffs in mind when considering Williamsburg. It largely sites the many 400th anniversary events planned this year to mark significant historic developments that occurred in the Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown triangle.

But the Times doesn’t forget to mention Busch Gardens and Water Country U.S.A., perennial favorites of tourists and residents alike.

Our cradle of history is in the spotlight for sure in 2019.

Ford’s Colony welcomes new golf director Woods Woolwine

Ford’s Colony has made its great golf staff even better with the addition of its new head PGA professional, Elwood “Woods” Woolwine. Woods replaces Mike Krick, who has taken a management position at Ford’s Colony.

Woods is a familiar face and an extremely respected presence in not only the local golf community but in recreational sports as well. He and his wife Shannon have lived in Williamsburg for 25 years, and Woods has coached youth basketball and baseball in the area for more than a decade.

Woods comes to Ford’s Colony from Cypress Creek Golfers Club in Smithfield, where he was director of golf for 18 years.

Ford’s Colony will hold a “Meet the Pro” golf event on Tuesday, Feb. 5, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Woods and members of his staff will hit shots at various holes for all the groups playing in the event. Call the Ford’s Colony golf shop at 757-258-4100 for instructions on how to sign up to meet and play with Woods.
